However, in central Kenya, Ugali is not that popular. It would be hard to find a restaurant that sells Ugali in central Kenya. In central Kenya, the meal that is most prevalent is ‘mokimo’, githeri, rice, Irish potatoes, ndengu, and peas.
Among the coastal people, rice is the most preferred, which is normally blended with coconut. Coastal people also prefer rice, fish and other traditional foods.
Another favorite Kenyan meal is Chapati. This is basically fried paste of whet flour which are rolled into small and flat pieces and then shallow fried on a pan cake. Chapati is mostly taken for lunch and breakfast.
For breakfast, the average Kenyan takes tea and bread/mandazi. The tea can be with milk or without milk, in which case it’s known as strong tea.
Kenyan meals are found in virtually all restaurants and are very affordable. When you travel to Kenya, you will certainly get to enjoy such meals.
