Kenyan Colleges Overview

The Kenyan higher education sector has expanded considerably. This is in due part to the large number of Kenyans that are graduating from Kenyan high schools. Thus, the demand for Kenyan Colleges has increased over the years. The admission to Kenyan Colleges is fairly straightforward. You will ordinarily need a C in order to pursue a diploma program. However, the requirement form one college to another varies and thus you may have to look at the individual college requirements.

However, you should take great care even as you are applying for the admission slots in the Kenyan Colleges. Just recently, the government released a list of Kenyan colleges to be closed.

Quite literally, many colleges are offering diploma and certificate programs that the market does not support. This would represent a major setback for the parent and the student, given the time and the resources spent on educating the student.
Another controversial issue has been the uptake of the Colleges by the Public Universities. Many middle level colleges have been consumed by the expanding Universities. The middle colleges provide a good middle skills training which are critical to any economy. Such middle level skills cannot be imparted at University level. Some of the Colleges that have been taken up by Universities include Kimathi College, Kenya polytechnic and Mombasa Polytechnic.
