UK is one of the favorite destinations for Kenyans seeking educational opportunities abroad. In Africa, only Nigeria would rival Kenya in terms of sending students to the UK. Many Kenyans are seeking higher education opportunities in the UK. The UK uses the 7-4-2-3 system of education unlike the Kenyan 8-4-4 system of education. Thus, if one was enrolled in Kenyan system, they would first of all need to enroll for a foundation course. IGCSE students can meanwhile apply to UK Universities directly. Unlike the US Universities where the quality between the Universities have marked differences, this is not the case for the Universities in the UK. They are almost of the same quality. However, the UK last year announced that it was seeking a curb on student visas and this may be expected to significantly reduce the foreign student numbers. Similarly, the serious austerity measures by the UK government have led to massive budget cuts, and education was one of the most affected sectors.
